Ingredients

Prepare the Dough

  • 1 cup whole milk, lukewarm warmed
  • 2 ½ tsp instant dry yeast
  • 2 large beaten eggs, room temperature
  • 6 tbsp butter, melted and cooled
  • 4 ½ cups cake flour, sifted
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp fine salt

For the filling

  • ½ cup salted butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the frosting

  • ½ pound cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 5 tbsp salted butter, softened at room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • Grease a 9×13-inch pan and set aside. Combine lukewarm milk and yeast, letting it sit for 5 minutes to activate, whether using a stand mixer or mixing by hand in a large bowl.
  • Add eggs and melted butter, then mix gently. Add flour, sugar, and salt, and knead with a dough hook until smooth. If the dough is sticky, add more flour, then place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.

Make the Filling:

  • Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.

Assemble the Rolls and Bake

  • Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a 24x15 inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, roll tightly into a log, and slice into 12 even pieces.
  • Place the rolls in the prepared pan, cover, and let rise for another 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the them for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Make the Frosting:

  • While the rolls bake, cream together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.

Finish and Serve:

  • Once the rolls are slightly cooled, spread the frosting over the top and serve warm.
