Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-4 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey
  • 2-4 tbsp dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings:

  • whipped cream
  • chocolate shavings
  • cocoa powder
  • chocolate sauce

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the almond milk, cocoa powder, and maple syrup (or honey). Stir occasionally and heat until steaming hot but not boiling.
  • Once the milk is warm, add the dark chocolate chips and whisk continuously until they melt and blend into the mixture, creating a smooth and luscious texture.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. This little touch enhances the chocolate flavor and gives the drink that extra warmth.
  • Pour the mocha hot chocolate into two mugs. If you're feeling extra fancy, top it with whipped cream, a dusting of cocoa powder, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
  • Grab a cozy blanket, take a sip, and enjoy your homemade Starbucks-style mocha hot chocolate.
